What a wonderful ending to a great series!
Sloane Madison and Max Cirillo were once best friends and business partners, building their dream company from the ground up. But four years ago, a devastating fallout led to Sloane being forced out of the company she helped create. While Max turned their college project into a billion-dollar company, Sloane moved on, launching an etiquette business of her own—successful but nowhere near as well as Max.
Now, she’s back in Maine for a few months to care for her niece, Ivy, while Ivy's adoptive parents are away on a special assignment. What she never expected? That the rental home arranged for her and Ivy happens to be the guesthouse of none other than Max Cirillo—the one man she never wanted to see again.
Max wants answers about their past and an apology Sloane refuses to give. Worse, he’s locked her into a rental agreement she can’t escape, ensuring they’ll have to face each other, whether she likes it or not. Determined to ignore him, Sloane quickly realizes that’s easier said than done—especially when Max seems intent on driving her mad at every turn.
I love every Becky Wade book I read. From her very first Porter Family series to the Sons of Scandal series, she has a beautiful way of creating believable, flawed, and lovable characters that draw me in every time. Uneasy Street is no exception!
I loved seeing more of Max after his appearances in the first two stories in the series and meeting Sloane for the first time. Their backstory is both sweet and heartbreaking—two people from broken pasts who don’t realize what a treasure they have in each other until it’s too late. Watching them, reluctantly at first, find their way back to each other and deepen their relationship was so satisfying.
I also enjoyed glimpses of Jeremiah and Remy, as well as Jude and Gemma, from the first two books in the Sons of Scandal series. Beautifully done, Becky! I’m sad to see this series come to a close, but I can’t wait to see where you take us next!
